Super-Senior Bowling Success

By: bowlingball.com, 1/15/16

If you are a super senior bowler over 70 years of age and still carry a good average, then there are things you can work on to continue super-senior bowling success.

Start by getting to your local pro shop and ask your pro shop professional to double check fit of your bowling ball(s) and weight them to re-identify yourself with the drilling layout.

As a super-senior bowler, it is very important to not only have your ball checked periodically in the pro shop for a proper fit or for inserts to not get overly worn, but to also make sure the surface texture of your ball surface, or surfaces, are prepared to best match with the oil pattern when and where you bowl most often.

The sizes and flexibility of your bowling fingers can change with age and with weather.

It is surprising to learn, however, that bowlers 70 years of age or more typically bypass the pro shop for routine bowling ball maintenance.

Routine maintenance infers more than merely cleaning your bowling ball surfaces to remove dirt or lane oil.

Maintenance also means to refresh your ball surface whether you prefer doing so yourself or by having the pro shop pro texture the surfaces of your equipment. Finishing your ball surfaces to a known grit level in anticipation of matching well with the lanes is a big step in gaining a reliable ball reaction when you bowl in competition.

Additionally, many senior and super-senior bowlers resist taking a bowling lesson to make sure they are getting the most out of their game.

One lesson from an experienced instructor can help you with your form and with good swing and release techniques.

Even if you carry a respectable average or a high average, tuning up your game can benefit your scores.

Invest a little time and money in your game and in the preparation of your bowling ball surfaces if you strive for improvement.
